Content.

To speak the word “content” with a certain inflection, one could be immediately drawn to a lakeside cabin in the woods, the smell of pine filling the air and the occasional chirp of a bird only adding to the serenity as you rock the old wooden chair back and forth with a book in hand. Perhaps a steaming black coffee beside you, or a divine pinot noir hinting of cherry vanilla and lightly of French oak, depending on the time of day!

But no, I’m here to discuss Content, as described above in the Oxford Dictionary as – information made available by a website or other electronic medium.

Blogs, E-Books, Social Media posts, Whitepapers, Newsletters or Flyers – the list could go on!

Somewhat differing from Copywriting (see previous blog), the creation and purpose of Content is to communicate, to engage and inform your audience with the intent to build a rapport or trust as opposed to Copywriting which is largely to enlist action.

Content is a massive player in today’s world of influencers and online superstars on our global stages, used for brand awareness, thought leadership and lead generation. Whether you use it to build your following, keep relevant or get a higher ranking with google search engine optimisation, you need Content.

Just having Content isn’t always enough though, a little thought and planning should go into your overall strategy.

Some things to think about:

See, there’s a lot to think about when putting content out into today’s global stage.

Just taking a selfie at every other rock concert you go to isn’t going to be enough to build your following. Getting a blog up once every three months because you just can’t find the time to write it after running your own business, driving little Jimmy to his basketball game, Suzanne’s dance recitals and having to attend your charity functions, press releases or just actually having a life.

Bluejay Writing can help you plan out your Content Calendar, identify the topics you want to speak about and will even do the research needed before creating the content to engage the audiences you want.
